Pre-season Defensive All-Americans

February 17, 2011

Earlier this week we released our Preseason All-Americans. Here's something a little different: Preseason defensive All-Americans. These are the guys we think will provide the most value in 2011 with their gloves.

We came up with these using a fairly rudimentary projection system, which is based in turn on our play-by-play defensive metrics. If you browse through the "Research" links on the sidebar, you'll find a lot of information about those metrics, as well as some lists of the best college defenders over the last few seasons.

One thing we love about lists like these is that they give more attention to some otherwise unheralded talents. Sure, you'll find some usual suspects, like Jason Esposito and Anthony Rendon, but what other national first team is going to feature guys from Seton Hall and Murray State?

Enjoy!
